It has an annual budget of around £250m and we are responsible for the administration and collection in respect of  a loan book of £156bn.  Playing a crucial role in supporting the UK’s higher and further education sectors, SLC’s vision is to be widely recognised as an organisation that enables student opportunity and delivers an outstanding customer experience in the efficient delivery of the UK Governments’ four further and higher education finance policies.

Ensuring SLC has sound resources, strong finances, and operates efficiently, whilst also meeting key business objectives and delivering strong value for money, the Executive Director will drive the Company’s financial and commercial performance and ensure compliance with all public sector best policy and practice. Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with senior officials within the Department for Education, devolved administrations, the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury, the successful candidate will also provide commercial leadership and support to the business, through efficient procurement and effective supplier relationships, including contract negotiation and resolution activities as appropriate.
