SAMH is Scotland’s mental health charity.  For almost 100 years SAMH has promoted the importance of good mental health; delivered dynamic and innovative recovery-focused services across Scotland; campaigned on behalf of people with mental health problems; and challenged stigma and discrimination.

At a time when mental health has never been more at the forefront of individual and social conscience, Livingston James is delighted to supporting SAMH with the recruitment of two critical roles.

Head of Fundraising

With overall responsibility for the strategic leadership of the Fundraising Department, you will develop and direct a new and ambitious fundraising strategy that will create a balanced portfolio of income sources that underpins sustainable growth. Through the development of new and compelling cases for support that “bring SAMH’s stories to life”, as appropriate, you will galvanise the huge potential of our supporters and enable the ground-breaking work that SAMH undertakes to help save and transform lives.

A seasoned and collaborative fundraiser with excellent people management skills and able to demonstrate the energy, drive and enthusiasm for this opportunity. An accomplished communicator, you will have instant credibility when engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.

Head of Suicide Prevention

Suicide prevention is one of three strategic priorities in SAMH’s brand new organisation strategy and the Head of Suicide Prevention is a newly created role.

Providing both strategic and operational leadership to ensure the effective delivery of SAMH’s national suicide prevention programme you will maintain and enhance SAMH’s reputation, credibility and profile, re-affirming its position as a strong and recognised voice on suicide prevention and directly influencing the policy landscape in Scotland. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, including Scottish Government, the Head of Suicide Prevention will also be required to build effective strategic partnerships focused on reducing the number of people who die by suicide in Scotland.

With a proven track record of achievement at senior management level, ideally gained within suicide prevention and/or the wider mental health environment, you will be able to demonstrate strong evidence of your ability to develop and sustain excellent working relationships with national and community influencers and key decision makers.

If you share SAMH’s passion and vision for a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances please contact Douglas Adam ([email protected]) to learn more about these exciting roles.

SAMH is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status or pregnancy and maternity.
