Blue Reef Holdings Ltd – Financial Director – Greenock (Hybrid Working Available) – £80,000 to £85,000 per annum plus car allowance, pension, private healthcare & discretionary bonus.

The Company

Blue Reef Holdings Ltd (Blue Reef) is a privately owned multi-national group, domiciled in The Bahamas. The business is vertically integrated and environmentally focused on virus, lead and other contaminant removing filtration media technologies, serving the food, beverage and water industries. Currently, the group has revenues of c$5m and c50 employees across its operations in the UK, USA, Mexico and the Bahamas.

The Opportunity

An opportunity to appoint a Financial Director has arisen as the Group CFO is stepping down at the end of March 2022 to take up a non-executive role at the group.

The Financial Director position is based in Greenock. From there, Blue Reef performs all accounting and treasury activities for the group. He/she will have overall responsibility across the group for all areas of finance, tax, audit, legal, payroll, IT, HR, corporate administration, property, insurance, patent administration and any other ad hoc tasks as they arise.

He/she will be responsible for the financial stewardship of the group through the provision of proactive financial planning and, as part of the senior leadership team, will contribute to key decision making. As this is a complex, multi-national business, it is important that the individual focuses on the primary areas of group accounting, treasury and cash management, ensuring that high quality management information is available to relevant stakeholders at all times.

There is a small, experienced team in place, including a highly competent qualified accountant (ACMA) who manages the month end process, product costing, margin analysis, Navision development, US sales tax compliance, VAT, group corporate tax etc.  In view of that, the Financial Director generally does not need to be involved in the compilation of accounting information but is ultimately responsible for delivery of high quality management information and ongoing development of the team, who will be working a hybrid pattern between home and office going forward.

The Individual

The preference is to attract a high calibre finance professional with a background in small or medium sized businesses and ideally, but not essentially, someone with experience of international operations. In particular, there is a desire to secure a Financial Director experienced in handling a broad range of tasks, both financial and non-financial, who possesses a proactive mindset.

Whilst the technical expertise required to ensure success is important, the position demands an individual with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially when liaising with overseas operations. It is important that the individual possesses a “can-do” attitude and can be involved in the detail as and when required.

Applications are welcomed from Financial Controllers moving into their first number one role, or a current Financial Director seeking a better opportunity. With either option, it is important that the individual has the ambition, skills and experience to grow with the business, and possesses the maturity of thought and relationship building skills required in a small, but complex business environment. With that comes an attractive financial package and the potential to be an equity participant in future.
