Amy Ferguson, Consultant at Rutherford Cross, reflects on Livingston James Group’s annual Corporate Challenge.
Every year we take part in a Corporate Challenge which allows us to come together as a business. Livingston James Group is made up of three separate brands (Livingston James, Hamilton Forth, and Rutherford Cross) therefore opportunities we have to do things together are always greatly anticipated.
Over the past few years, we have participated in some exciting and gruelling challenges. These have included climbing a Munro and the Coast-to-Coast challenge among others. The ‘toughness’ of the challenges is a great way for us as a team to support each other mentally and physically whilst raising funds for charities and organisations that are important to us.
The Benefits
Our business purpose is to advise and support people and organisations to realise their potential so that together we can impact lives and communities for the better. Fundraising in order to support the communities we live and work in is of great importance to us and is something every employee of LJG strongly believes in.
As a business, we have found that there are lots of benefits to committing to these annual challenges, which are usually very physical. In simple terms, we enjoy them! These challenges help us get to know each other better, and more importantly gives us the chance to support the communities we live and work in through our fundraising efforts. This year was no different.
The Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2022
This year, Livingston James Group participated in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise funds for Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. Sands does great work across the country to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, improve the care bereaved parents receive from health care and other professionals, and reduce the number of babies who do die by funding research and working closely with other organisations to create a world where fewer babies die.
The Kiltwalk took place on Sunday 18th September, and we walked just over 13 miles through Edinburgh with thousands of other walkers participating to raise money for different charities. We were lucky to have a dry day (no sun, but in Scotland a rain free day is always considered a win!). The route took us through the west and north of the city with a few pitstops to refuel along the way.
The atmosphere during the walk and at the Kiltwalk Village at Murrayfield Stadium was fantastic, and it was great to see so many people supporting well deserving charities and causes. Congratulations to all who participated and huge thanks to everyone who donated to our fundraising efforts.
