Livingston James Retained by Change Mental Health to Appoint Chair or Board Trustees

If you are passionate about making a meaningful difference to mental health in Scotland, this is a unique opportunity to join Change Mental Health as Chair or Board Trustees. You will play a key role in shaping strategy, supporting and constructively challenging the executive team, and amplifying the voices of those with lived experience.

The charity exists to improve mental health across Scotland by transforming how people think and talk about mental health, delivering high-quality evidence-based services, and championing the voices of those affected. With a proud heritage and a bold vision that no one faces mental illness alone, it relies on the collective skills, knowledge, and commitment of its staff, volunteers, and Trustees to achieve this mission.

Whether joining as Chair or Board Trustee, you will become part of a passionate, committed, and forward-looking Board, with around half of its members bringing personal or professional experience of mental health. This blend of lived and learned expertise, alongside professional insight, is central to the charity’s work and underpins its ambition to grow and increase its impact.

Together, the Board is driving transformational change,  strengthening services, amplifying lived experience, and influencing systems at a national level. You will play a key role in setting strategic direction, supporting and constructively challenging the leadership team, and ensuring the work remains effective, inclusive, and impactful.

Chair of the Board: The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of strategic leadership, governance oversight, and experience supporting and constructively challenging senior executives. You will be able to build trusted relationships with staff, Trustees, and stakeholders, and will be willing to support the Chief Executive beyond formal meetings, demonstrating sound judgment, discretion, and a collaborative approach.

Board Trustees: We are seeking individuals who bring relevant knowledge or experience in areas such as Fundraising, Accountancy, or Human Resources.

These roles offer the chance to influence services, drive innovation, and contribute to transformational change across the sector.
