SCVO Launches Search For New Convener (Chair of the Board)

With Andrew Burns, SCVO’s current Convener (Chair), reluctantly moving on in December when his term limit is reached, SCVO has begun the recruitment process to identify his successor.

SCVO’s board is made up of 11 trustees, six of whom are elected by our members and five of whom are co-opted. With everyone having a three-year term and the option of a second (elections permitting!), Andrew has been lucky to work with a fantastic range of different trustees over his time at SCVO. The knowledge and experience trustees bring to the Board is invaluable and very much appreciated by the staff team.

The role of Convener (Chair) is a genuinely unique opportunity to be part of an organisation at the heart of Scotland’s voluntary sector, and indeed wider civic society. Having recently launched a new five-year strategic plan, it is an exciting time to get involved with SCVO. As Convener you will lead the Board, promoting a culture of constructive challenge, to ensure SCVO delivers against its three key strategic aims whilst also setting high governance standards.

The successful candidate will bring significant experience of charity governance through participation on boards and be ready to step into the role of Chair, if you have not already done so. Candidates should possess the ability to lead with openness, honesty, integrity and transparency, whilst also demonstrating a clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
